Teacher Registration SEPT 2010

MEANZ council member David Stiff of the New Zealand National Maritime Museum and President Margaret Tolland attended separate Teachers Council workshops in 2010 in Auckland and Wellington. Whilst at the workshop Margaret talked with Dr Paul Lind the Director of the NZ Teachers Council discussing the new teacher’s criteria. The offered status for Museum and gallery educators in terms of registration does not work for many educators and MEANZ council members are going to have more discussions with them about this. Museums Australia Conference in Melbourne SEPT 2010

MEANZ President and Manager of Education Margaret Tolland from Pataka, and Education Programmes Developer Julie Noanoa from Te Papa gave a presentation about museum education in Aotearoa New Zealand at the Museums Australia conference in Melbourne at the end of September 2010. They met with the president of the Museums Australia Education Association David Arnold to discuss the possibility of building partnerships between MEANZ and MA and holding a joint New Zealand / Australia educators conference in the near future.
